Every TNZ clinical counsellor in Vancouver and across BC is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with training in AEDP, trauma-informed practice, couples therapy, and workplace dynamics. Our clinical counsellors in Vancouver work with individuals, couples, and employees. with training in AEDP, trauma-informed practice, couples therapy, and workplace dynamics. Clients work with experienced practitioners, not the next available counsellor on a national roster.
For organizations, we provide EAP services as a credible alternative to large EAP corporations. TNZ counsellors understand the workplace context, the sector dynamics, and, when relevant, the organizational history. This context matters in counselling work.
AI plays no role in TNZ's counselling services: not in intake, assessment, session notes, or any clinical decision. Therapeutic relationships require human connection and clinical judgment. This is non-negotiable.

How it works
Our process
1
Intake and matching
We learn about the client's situation and goals, and match them with the counsellor whose background and approach is the best fit for their needs.
2
Initial session
The counsellor and client establish rapport, clarify goals, and agree on an approach. Most clients begin to experience benefit within the first few sessions.
3
Ongoing work
Sessions are typically 50 minutes, weekly or bi-weekly. The pace and duration of engagement is determined collaboratively; we do not impose a session limit.
4
Transition and closure
Endings are handled with care. When clients are ready to conclude, the work is consolidated and clients leave with a clear sense of what they have gained and what to watch for.
Why it matters
The benefits
Experienced practitioners
Our counsellors are Registered Clinical Counsellors with advanced training. Clients are not seeing a recent graduate; they are working with experienced clinicians.
Workplace context
TNZ counsellors understand organizational life, workplace trauma, and the specific pressures of professional environments. This context produces better, faster therapeutic work.
Continuity
Unlike large EAP networks where clients may see a different counsellor each visit, TNZ clients work with the same counsellor throughout. Continuity is not a luxury in counselling; it is a clinical requirement.
No AI, ever
Counselling at TNZ is entirely human. We do not use AI for intake screening, session notes, risk assessment, or any clinical function. Your counsellor's full attention is present in every session.
In practice
Anonymous case studies
All identifying details have been changed or removed. These examples illustrate the kinds of situations we work with and the outcomes our interventions achieve.
Professional Services Firm
Situation
A professional services firm retained TNZ as their EAP provider following a traumatic incident in the workplace that had affected six employees directly. The firm's existing EAP contract provided access to a national network, but staff were reluctant to use it: the intake process was impersonal and counsellors had no knowledge of the professional context.
Intervention
TNZ provided critical incident debriefing for the six directly affected employees within 48 hours of the incident. Four of the six continued in individual counselling for varying periods. A follow-up group session was facilitated two weeks later for the broader team of twenty. Leadership received coaching on how to support their team through the recovery period.
Outcome
All six directly affected employees remained employed with the firm twelve months later. HR noted that the speed of TNZ's response and the quality of the practitioner match had been decisive. The firm converted their EAP contract to TNZ following the engagement.
Individual, Senior Leader
Situation
A senior leader at a healthcare organization self-referred for counselling following a period of sustained stress that had produced symptoms of burnout and vicarious trauma. The leader had not sought support previously, in part because they were concerned about confidentiality and judgment.
Intervention
The leader was matched with a TNZ counsellor with a background in both organizational consulting and clinical counselling, understanding both the professional context and the clinical presentation. The engagement ran for fourteen sessions over eight months, working with AEDP approaches to address underlying emotional patterns alongside the presenting burnout symptoms.
Outcome
At closure, the client described the engagement as transformative. They had returned to full capacity at work, established sustainable boundaries, and developed insight into the patterns that had led to the burnout. They subsequently referred three colleagues to TNZ.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Is counselling covered by benefits?
Many extended health plans cover RCC services. We recommend checking your plan for coverage amounts and any requirements for referral. We can provide receipts in the format required for benefits claims.
Can employees self-refer, or does it go through HR?
Both. Employees can contact TNZ directly and confidentially. Organizations can also refer employees. In either case, the content of sessions is entirely confidential; TNZ does not report session content to the employer.
Do you offer crisis support?
TNZ counsellors can provide critical incident debriefing and urgent individual support following workplace trauma. For mental health crises requiring immediate intervention, we refer to appropriate crisis services and can assist with that navigation.
Is there a session limit for EAP clients?
TNZ does not impose an arbitrary session limit. Session numbers are determined by the client's needs and goals. Organizations contracting for EAP services can set parameters; we work transparently within them.
